Seeing the people, He felt compassion for them, because they were
distressed and dispirited like sheep without a shepherd. (Matthew
9:36)
Hey Everybody!
I pray you are doing incredibly well! Been a while since I've done a
big email to everybody and am glad to say hello to you all (I
believe a Christmas Celebration for Others was the last time). I
wanted to touch base with everybody to make sure that you are all
informed about Pensacola World Changers! A little about PWC in
letter form...
On July 13th of 2002, 280 senior high and college age students from
across the nation joined 60 local students and descended on
Pensacola armed with a hammer and a big heart! They came with two
goals in mind.1) To help eliminate sub-standard housing in the
Pensacola community and .2) To show the Pensacola Community and the
world the love of Jesus!
Over the course of that following week, those 340 students replaced
the roofs, landscaped the yards, and painted 20 homes for the less
fortunate in Pensacola! They not only brought shingles, grass, and
paint, but they brought laughter, hope, and love into the lives of
these residents in our great city!
"They became known as Pensacola World Changers!"
July 12th -19th will mark the second annual Pensacola World
Changers! This year nearly 500 student participants (400 out of town
students and 100 local students) will replace roofs (30), landscape
yards (30), and paint homes (15-18) for those that need it the most.
A quick story... "The very first PWC project was a "pilot/test"
project on North G Street in April of 2001. The resident was 80 or
so years old Mrs. Williams along with her paraplegic 55 year old
son. For over 15 years Mrs. Williams had slept with a saw horse
built above her bed with a bucket resting on it to catch the water
as it poured in on rainy nights. Her home was nearly ruined because
of rain damage."
Pensacola World Changers is looking to strategically partner with
all sorts of individuals, companies, church's, and civic groups,
etc. We are seeking to provide quality rehabilitation to these homes
and to the lives of these under privileged residents. We want YOU to
be a part of it! There are so many areas in which we need
assistance, let me share a few needs with you.
1) Construction: We need people who are knowledgeable with roofing
and other sorts of construction to serve as supervisors and crew
chiefs.
2) Financial: We need business's, people, civic groups, and church's
to help us float the cost of PWC (we run a budget in excess of
$100,000). One thing that we "boast in the Lord" for is the way He
never quits supplying! This allows us to go above and beyond our
basic project to make it more rewarding for the residents and
participants. We have an "adopt a house" program which is perfect
for the business, church, or civic group that would like to receive
some publicity, etc. along with providing a valuable service to our
community and to HIM. We ask that you donate $1,000 or more to be
"an adopt a house" sponsor but we welcome all levels of support
graciously and will promote your company on different promotional
items as well as
www.PensacolaWorldChangers.org!
3) Promotional: Some groups have made different types of "thank you
Pensacola World Changers" shirts, hats, billboards, etc to give to
the students for them to wear during the week and beyond. You can
certainly put your logo, etc on the item and we will give it to the
students to wear. We expect media to be even higher then last year,
and last year included nearly a dozen newspaper articles and
multiple stories on the morning and evening news.
4) General Volunteers: This project is so vast I can't start to
describe all of our needs (actually I could but you already complain
about how long my emails are!). We need people just to be around to
help cater to all of the participants and help us in the office and
around the school (lodging facility), and on the work sites.
That's a decent but fairly brief description of our needs! I know
the best people in P'Cola and around are receiving this email and I
would love to hear from you with your way of helping and supporting
PWC and the work of our incredible Savior here in Pensacola! Please
call me and let me personally share our vision with you and figure
out a way to plug you/your group into it! When you help PWC you not
only help the residents and the community, but you support the hands
and feet of Christ, the next generation being raised up for HIS
glory! The students that are apart of this project leave this week
having grown leaps and bounds in their faith, many committing to do
full time Christian Ministry in all parts of the world! A generation
passionately pursuing a risen Savior!

Let's improve the quality of life in less fortunate Pensacola and
bring HIM glory! Blessings!
