“GO” Outline Notes from that talk: Mark Taylor 1/20/2007
Matthew 28:19 – “Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Spirit.” …Jesus.
When I think about “GO”, think about the last 8 years of my life, I have to think about Jesus.
People always ask me, “why do you go and have such a passion for people, helping, and sharing Christ with others.”
To be honest, I’m really not always sure, it seems like it has always had a place in my life, maybe all the way back to the beginning.
I have to think about my family and their influence on me as they raised me; I have to think about my conversion experience, over 16 years ago on top of Look Out Mountain, GA at Covenant College during a CBMC camp; and then I have to think about that shocking week in April of 2000 where God took and flipped my life upside down and rearranged my priorities.
But I am sure that God has been shaping me and my life since before I was born.
AND I KNOW He has been shaping your life as well!
The questions?
- I’m no where near good enough, my life is sinful and I just can’t seem to get it together.
- What about money, I can barely pay the bills right now?
- What about language, people from up north can’t even understand my southern draw?
- What about my family and my responsibilities here?
When searching the scriptures I can’t help but look at Isaiah and compare his vision with my life and my questions.
Isaiah 6:1-8
In the year of King Uzziah’s death, I saw the Lord sitting on a throne, lofty and exalted, with the train of His robe filling the temple. Seraphim stood above Him, each having six wings, with two he covered his face, and with two he covered his feet, and with two he flew. And one called out to another and said.
Holy, Holy, holy, is the Lord of hosts, the whole earth is full of His glory.
And the foundations of the thresholds trembled at the voice of him who called out, while the temple was filling with smoke.
Then I said.
Woe is me, for I am ruined! Because I am a man of unclean lips, and I live among people of unclean lips, for my eyes have seen the King, the Lord of hosts.
Then one of the seraphim flew to me, with a burning coal in his hand which he had taken from the altar with tongs. And he touched my mouth with it and said, Behold, this has touched your lips and your iniquity is taken away and your sin is forgiven.
Then I heard the voice of the Lord, saying, “Whom shall I send, and who will go for us”?
Then I said, “Here am I, Send Me!”
The answers:
- If He forgave Isaiah with the burning coal, isn’t the blood of Christ good enough for me?
- -4) When you feel the Lord saying, tugging, convicting..
“I need someone to…
-
talk to that kid at the cafeteria table by himself/herself.
